98.4 Beach Ball Championship on track

Manama, Feb. 5 (BNA): The Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs said it is launching the 4th edition of the 98.4 Beach Ball Championship as part of the Kingdom’s celebrations of the 18th anniversary of the National Action Charter. The championship will kick-start at the Bahrain Football Association playgrounds on Thursday. The championship is taking place in harmony with the vision of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa the representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, aimed to boost the entertainment and thrill inducing sports activities suitable for all participants age groups to promote the rapprochement and friendship bonds among the participants. Youth and Sports Affairs Minister Hisham Mohammed Al Jowder affirmed the ministry’s keenness on expanding the base of this programme, to include all youth centres, national clubs under the umbrella of the sports associations of the respective games with the aim of activation of programmes and activities among the youth centres and national clubs to bolster the competitiveness and pave the way to discover more sports prodigies in the beach ball game. The minister also affirmed the ministry’s keenness to support sportswomen and to provide them means capable of advancement by organizing the first of its kind young women’s tournament as well as the tournament for the expatriate communities as part of the championship. He affirmed the ministry’s keenness on cooperation with the Bahrain Football Association in finalizing all the arrangements and the preparations to hold the sports competitions on its beach playgrounds.
