ASRT to promote Shaikh Nasser Award

Manama, Aug. 1 (BNA): Dr Abdulrahman Sayyar, General secretary of the Nasser bin Hamad Scientific Research Award in the field of sports, recently met Director of Academic Scientific Research and Training (ASRT) Dr Wisam Al Shaikhli from the United Kingdom. The meeting was on the sidelines of Dr Sayyar’s visit to Amman, in Jordan, where he attended the 11th International Conference Sports Sciences. Both parties had talks on possible ways of cooperation between the Bahrain Olympic Committee, organisers of Nasser bin Hamad Scientific Research Award in the field of sports, and the ASRT in promoting this year’s edition of the award. The Nasser bin Hamad Scientific Research Award in the field of sports was launched in 2012 by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee President. It is in recognition of the scientific research and its role in sport development in Bahrain in three key areas – sports management, sports training, and sports medicine. In accordance to his vision while seeking excellence, Shaikh Nasser directed to launch this award in its second edition to become open to participants from all over the Arab region on one hand, and support Bahrainis below 25 years to engage in research work, on the other hand.
