Bahrain ready to host Arab Sports Conference 2018

Manama, Apr. 5 (BNA): His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa the representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee President emphasized the role of the Kingdom of Bahrain to use sport for the benefit of the Bahraini society and as well as raising awareness on the effective role of sport in supporting the United Nations goals to achieve development in various fields. This statement was announced as Bahrain wraps up its preparations to host the First Arab Conference on Sport next week. This first-of-its-kind gathering due on April 10-11 will focus on ‘The Role of Sport in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals’. It’s organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs in cooperation with the United Nations Office in Bahrain and the International Council for Health, Physical Education, Sports and Recreation (ICHPER.SD). HH Shaikh Nasser said hosting the conference reflects the country’s belief in achieving the goals of development by helping people in all around the world to take part in sports events in order to achieve development and sustainable change. HH Shaikh Nasser pointed out the importance of holding such an event to come up with the best recommendations that make sport and physical activity available to millions of people of all ages. He expressed great confidence in this conference to achieve the desired objectives for the rich and fruitful themes and paper works that will be brought up over the two days of discussions.
