Bahrain welcomes Filipino MMA legend at Brave 1

Manama, Aug. 18 (BNA): The Middle Eastern-based, International mixed martial arts promotion, Brave Combat Federation is bringing a big fight card to Bahrain on September 23 at Khalifa Sports City. Arguably one of the biggest fights of the night will see Filipino favourite Crisantos Pitpitung, who will take on Mexico's Ivan Lopez in a bantamweight bout. This fight is sure to excite the large Filipino crowd expected to attend and cheer in the arena. A former Pacific Xtreme Combat (PXC) World Champion, a Filipino record breaker, a police officer, Brave welcomes Crisantos "Slugger" Pitpitung (8-5) to the roster and this man is guaranteed to put on a show. Pitpitung was the first Filipino champion of PXC forever etching his name in the history books. This is a battle-hardened fighter, who has fought some world class opposition and is widely regarded as the best Filipino fighter ever to grace MMA. Hailing from the notoriously tough Team Lakay gym, Pitpitung has an impressive resume including his spectacular world Bantamweight title victory over Justin Cruz, which was certainly "Slugger" at his brutal best. He went after Cruz from the beginning, and sensed that he was in the ascendancy - so he went for the finish as Pitpitung so often does. Sometimes when you over commit, you get caught and he got dropped to his knees, then moments later caught Cruz with a perfect counter punch, which was so deadly it stiffened him out. "Since then we’ve seen this fine, attacking warrior, who possesses excellent boxing skills and accurate punching, defeat the mighty Rambaa Somdet of Thailand who hadn’t lost for 12 years before that fight, and also knock out Alvin Cacdac with another well placed blow with his right hand. Incidentally, had Cacdac made weight that would have made the fight a title fight for the vacant Flyweight title, thus making the slugger a two-weight world champion – sadly that wasn’t to be. With his well-rounded style, and solid base, Pitpitung has great takedown defense and a level of cardio which will carry him through into the later rounds. He’s been three rounds five times and even had two five round fights, making him a tough prospect for anyone who always possesses that fight ending shot. The "Slugger" is a fighter who is likely to become a fan favorite in Brave Combat Federation. "Brave 1" will be headlined by a welterweight match up between Middle East's most dangerous fighter Mohamed Fakhreddine who will face Brazil's undefeated Thiago "Monstro" Vieira.
