Dubai Sports City all set for its second Open Day
Dubai: Dubai Sports City is getting ready to host its second Open Day later this month. The event, which will take place in the air-conditioned comfort of DSC's Indoor Dome at the Academies Campus, will happen on Saturday 14th September from 10:00 to 14:00.
It will showcase the wide variety of sports available to be played and learnt, with taster sessions in football, cricket and golf. There will be plenty to keep all the family entertained and occupied with a climbing wall, face painting and a bouncy castle.
And for those who find themselves getting hungry through all the activities taking place, there will also be a barbeque.
The Open Day will include the chance to win free coaching and activity sessions at Dubai Sports City's extensive facilities, as well as spot registration discounts for courses, and vouchers for future usage.
The event follows on from the spectacular success of January's Open Day at Dubai Sports City, which saw more than 400 people visit the Academies Campus to see and sample the range of sports on offer and enjoy a family day out.
The outstanding facilities include the ICC Academy with Head Coach Mudassar Nazar, the former Pakistan all-rounder, overseeing the cricket coaching activity.
The ICC Academy includes two full-sized ovals and an extensive range of outdoor net pitches, as well as extensive indoor options, with the state-of-the-art ProBatter allowing batsmen to simulate facing the best bowlers in the world.
The Indoor Dome is the home of the Dubai Sports City Football Academy with the former Real Madrid and Spain legend, Michel Salgado, as its Director.
Later this month, the first edition of the Spanish Soccer Schools junior coaching programme will get underway, and Corporate and Social League action also starts new seasons in September.
And for golf fans there is the Els Club, a superb, 18-hole championship course designed by multiple major winner Ernie Els of South Africa, including a brand new Clubhouse with multiple dining options, plus the Butch Harmon School of Golf where some of the world's finest coaches teach the game.
Both codes of rugby - union and league - are also played at Dubai Sports City, as is American Football.
Dubai Sports City General Manager, Sports Business, Maqbul Dudhia, said, "With families coming back to Dubai after the summer holidays and the weather set to cool down over the coming months, now is the ideal time for us to host our second Open Day.
"Since our previous event in January, we have increased our range of facilities on offer and our superb new Indoor Dome, opened earlier this year, is an ideal location for people to come along, relax, enjoy themselves and see what Dubai Sports City has to offer.
"We have opportunities for people to play or be coached in cricket, football and golf and with our fitness centre, swimming pool and hotel facilities all set to open by the end of the year, it really is the perfect time for people to come and see what Dubai Sports City is all about.
"And with the Hessa Street extension open, access to Dubai Sports City has never been easier." – Emirates News Agency, WAM
