HH Shaikh Khalid praises Royal Rumble Boxing Championship

Manama, Feb. 5 (BNA): The Royal Rumble Boxing Championship was held on Friday at the Bahrain Rugby Clubunder the patronage and in the presence of Under the patronage and in the presence of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee,
The event was organised by the Bahrain Boxing Federation in cooperation with the Bahrain Rugby Club. The proceeds of the event were allocated to the Royal Humanitarian Foundation.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa praised the distinguished organisation of the Royal Rumble Boxing Championship, and the strong competition between the two teams participating in this contest, which clearly reflected the great preparations that contributed to the success of this sports gathering.
"It was an important event with multiple goals, the most prominent of which is strengthening Bahraini-British cooperation relations in the sports field, especially at the level of boxing”, he said.
He stressed continued efforts to develop the Bahraini boxing sport, and push it towards achieving the best during the coming period, in line with the vision which was for this sport in 2018, through which we achieved the first goal; to reach the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
"One of the wonderful goals that characterised this tournament is to allocate its proceeds to support the Royal Humanitarian Foundation. This is certainly a source of pride in the great efforts made by the organisers of this event, who were keen to demonstrate the importance of harnessing sport as a supporter of humanitarian works”, said HH Shaikh Khalid.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa witnessed the fights of this tournament in which the Royal Guard team participated against the British Army team. The Bahraini team dominated the competition, achieving 8 victories in 9 fights en route to winning the title of the Championship.
