Indonesia Targets 35 Gold Medals At ASEAN Para Games 2017

SOLO, C.Java, July 13 (Antara) - The Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC) is eyeing 35 gold medals at the ASEAN Para Games 2017 in September in Malaysia. "We are practicing regularly at the Sriwedari Solo Stadium to bring home 35 golds," Indonesian NPC's Athletic Coach Slamet Widodo noted here on Wednesday. According to the coach, Indonesia will send 44 athletes to participate in the sports competition. Gold medals are expected to be won in events, such as 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 500 meters, 800 meters, and five thousand meters. "We are also expecting gold in discus, shot put, javelin throw, long jump, and triple jump events," he noted. The athletes include those who are blind, suffering from cerebral palsy, or have paralysis. According to President of the Indonesian NPC Senny Marbun, Indonesia has prepared 200 athletes who are currently practicing in Solo, Central Java Province. Marbun said the athletes will compete in 13 sports. The Indonesian athletes will leave for Malaysia on Sept 13.
