Iran’s lifter Rostami claims gold at the worlds

TEHRAN,Nov. 12 (MNA)-- Iran’s Kianoush Rostami claimed the gold medal of the men's 85kg division at the World Weightlifting Championships in Paris, France. Rostami lifted 173 kg in the snatch and 209kg in the clean and jerk for a 382 total to claim the gold medal, after finishing as runner-up at the Asian Championships in April. “I wanted to break the world record, but my physical condition did not allow that. I am going to set a record in the London 2012 Olympic Games,” Rostami said. Frenchman Benjamin Hennequin won the silver medal with a combined 378 and Adrian Zielinski of Poland took bronze with a 376 total. The competition ends on Sunday. The competitions will also determine who will be eligible to compete in the Olympic Games.
