Khalid bin Hamad's pioneering initiatives in sport, theatre praised

Manama, July 30 (BNA): Bahraini national coach Abdulmunaim Al Dakhil, and actor Abbas Al Sammak affirmed the pivotal role played by HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association, in supporting the youth and sports movement in the Kingdom through his initiatives which aim to develop youth skills in a variety of fields.
This came during their attendance of part of the 6th Khalid bin Hamad League, held under the patronage of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association, Honorary President of Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation, and organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in partnership with the Media Office of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, from 24 June to 9 August. The league is part of HH’s initiatives in support of youth in sports and humanitarian fields.
The event is held this year with the wide participation of youth centres, national clubs, young women, disabled individuals, ministries and communities.
Great interest of Khalid bin Hamad
Al Dakhil pointed out that the interest of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa in organising the league over the past years has greatly contributed to the emergence of a large number of outstanding sports talents in futsal, capable of enriching national teams. He called on national clubs to take advantage of the league’s establishment to discover talents and recruit them to their teams in preparation for the sports season.
Al Dakhil said, “The Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League is teeming with sports talents capable of joining national clubs and teams. These talents need to be discovered and nurtured, increasing their level of expertise in order for them to reach full readiness.”
A true forum for all
From his part, Al Sammak pointed out that the league is a true forum for the Kingdom’s villagers and townspeople and successive generations within an exciting competition. This event achieves many goals, most notably enhancing patriotism and social ties among all participants.
“This sport gathering provides youth with the platform to launch their abilities and innovation in futsal, which contributes to the emergence and discovery of talents that benefit local clubs and the national team,” he added.
He praised HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa's youth initiatives in the field of sports as well as the Khalid bin Hamad Theatre Festival, which will enrich the theatre scene in Bahrain.
Ministry of Youth and Sports Stun Housing Ministry
The Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs team demolished the Housing Ministry team 13-2 in a one-sided game in Group 2 of Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Futsal League, held on Sunday at Khalifa Sports City.
Helping them to achieve this big win was Mohammed Janahi who contributed five goals en route to winning the best player of the match award too. Another big victory occurred on the same day as the Ministry of Information team thrashed the Institute of Public Administration 19-1 team in Group 1.
Mohammed Fardan contributed three goals and claimed the best man of the match award. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance defeated the Ministry of Transportation 3-0 in Group 2. Ali Atteya produced a fine form in this game, scoring one goal and won the best man of the match award. More of the same, the Ministry of Interior secured a broad 11-2 win against the Foreign Ministry. Salman Al Mullah inspired the winners to this victory, scoring five goals and won the best man of the match award.
