Lotus F1 Driver, Grosjean Want Prove The Best Performance In Sepang Circuit

SHAH ALAM (Selangor, Malaysia), March 22 (Bernama) -- Lotus Formula 1 driver, Romain Grosjean, who failed to match other Formula 1 rivals in Melbourne, Australia, is optimistic of a better performance at the Petronas Malaysia Formula One Grand Prix in Sepang circuit this weekend. Grosjean said he was more confident in the round two of the world championship as he would be racing on a track that he was more familiar with. "I don't know most of the F1 tracks but I know Sepang and Bahrain as I've raced in both circuits before. "Sepang is one of my favorite circuits and we will focus on getting a result here. I will try my best," said the Swiss driver at the Proton Center of Excellence in Hicom here Thursday. The 25-year-old reigning GP2 champion had overshadowed team-mate Kimi Raikkonen, when he clinched third position in the grid at the Australia Grand Prix qualifying session. However, a slow start on race day saw him losing three places and retired following a second lap crash with Williams driver Pastor Maldonado. Grosjean has raced seven times in 2009 for Renault before departing from Formula 1 and he has had success at the Sepang circuit, finishing second in the GP2 Asia series, in 2008. The young driver said he would face tough competition from the McLaren Mercedes and Mercedes AMG Petronas teams. He said he and team-mate, Kimi Raikkonen would try to give their best performances in Malaysia so as to not disappoint the Lotus fans who have been very supportive. "We are very happy to start the season and will be looking forward to this weekend and also the rest of the season," he said. -- BERNAMA
