M'sian Team, Harimau Malaya Lose Another Tooth In FIFA Ranking

KUALA LUMPUR, June 7 (Bernama) -- Toothless Malaysian Tigers lost another spot in the FIFA world ranking after a run of poor results in international friendly matches recently. According to the latest FIFA ranking released, K. Rajagobal's squad dropped from 153 last month to 154, the worst standing of the national squad, maintaining a consistent drop in rankings from January (148), February (150), March (152). The current standing of the national side was on par with teams like Bangladesh (152), war-torn Palestine who took over 153rd spot from Malaysia, New Caledonia (155) and Samoa (156) that lacked even basic sporting facilities, let alone full time highly paid coaches and 80,000 to 100,000 capacity stadiums. In South East Asia, Malaysia remained in fifth place behind Vietnam (98), Thailand (136), Philippines (149) and Indonesia (151). The country's position in Asia also remained the same - 27th spot among 46 countries. Meanwhile, 2010 World Cup winner Spain retained top spot in the list of 205 countries with 1,456 while Uruguay dislodged Germany from second spot with 1,292 points, four more than the 2006 World Cup host. --BERNAMA
