Nasser bin Hamad deputizes

Manama, Sept. 6 (BNA): HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, deputized HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association, to attend the 7th Asian Men's Youth Handball Championship final match, which was held yesterday at Khalifa Sports City hall. His Highness crowned Bahraini’s Junior team with the title of the championship after defeating the Japanese team with the result of 23/25 in a match that was filled with excitement since from the starting minutes until the last seconds. Bahrain’s team delivered an outstanding performance and achieved the first position to win the Asian Cup. His Highness crowned the Japanese team with the second position medal. HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa congratulated the Kingdom's wise leadership, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad, Bahrain Handball Association member and handball fans, on the occasion of Bahrain Junior team achieving the continental title of the Championship, which was hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain from August 27 to September 5. Bahrain’s Junior team has qualified to the Handball World Cup which will be held in Tbilisi, Georgia next year. HH Shaikh Khalid commenting on the occasion, said: "We congratulate Ali Ishaqi, Bahrain Handball Association president, all members of the association and fans of the sports, on the occasion of Bahrain Junior team achieving first position and deservingly qualifying to the World Cup which will be held in Georgia. We are very proud of this generation of Handball athletes, who proved their abilities and succeeded in achieving this honourable result that will be added to Bahraini’s record of achievements." His Highness added: "I am proud with this generation of players who deserve this achievement after delivering an outstanding performance. They had a great deal of responsibility and they managed to pass the participating teams, and achieve their goals in this sports gathering. You deserve to stand on the crowning podium as champions and you have honoured Bahraini in this continental sports gathering." His Highness said that this achievement reflects the constant support given by the Bahrain Olympic Committee under the leadership of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa. His Highness also noted the efforts of the Bahrain Handball Association in preparing plans and programmes that include the talents of the youth and refine them, thus ensuring the development of local competitions, which reflect on National teams to achieve results. His Highness praised the full National team for raising the name of the Kingdom and achieving results in various sports.
