NSC Considers Hiring Foreign Expert For Athletics Development

KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 (Bernama) -- The National Sports Council (NSC) plans to use the services of a foreign expert from Europe to fill the vacant post of technical director in the Malaysian Athletics Union (MAU). NSC director-general Zolkples Embong said the NSC had identified several individuals with the qualifications to manage MAU's activities and the name of the individual would be announced soon. "We have shortlisted three qualified candidates and they are from abroad. NSC has no intention of sidelining local experts but so far, there is no local candidate with the level of expertise required," he said after attending the closing of the 2012 Athletics Camp, here on Thursday. Also present was MAU president Shahidan Kassim. Zolkples said only one would be selected and the task was to lead the six head coaches for six disciplines. He said all the six head coaches who were appointed to their post, would be assessed through the key performance indicators (KPI) to ensure Malaysian athletes would be able to compete at a higher level. -- BERNAMA
