Qatar 2022/ Belgium Defeat Canada, Lead Group F

Doha, November 23 (QNA) - Belgium made a hard-won 1-0 victory over Canada on Wednesday at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium, in their Group F opener in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. A 44th minute goal from Michy Batshuayi gave Belgium the Group F lead with three points, two points ahead of Morocco and Croatia who drew goalless earlier today. Alphonso Davies failed to give Canada the lead in the 10th minute from the spot after Zambian referee granted them a penalty after consulting the VAR. Batshuayi was about to struck again in the second half from a counter-attack but the Canadian defense refused. The last 10 minutes saw substitute Cyle Larin unable to score an equalizer when his header was saved by goalie Thibaut Courtois. (QNA)
