Qatar 2022/ Portugal Coach's Contract Terminated after Exit from World Cup

Doha, December 15 (QNA) - The Portuguese Football Federation on Thursday terminated the contract of the head coach of the first team Fernando Santos following Portugal's exit from the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 after a 1-0 loss to Morocco. "Santos will not be with the team in the next phase after 8 years of work in which he left a historic legacy as he led Portugal to the 2016 European Championship title, the country's first international trophy in Portugal's history," said the Portuguese Football Federation on its Twitter account. On its official account on Twitter, the Portuguese national team posted a video in which they thanked Coach Santos for his time as coach of the team for the past eight years. The Portuguese Football Federation is expected to announce Santos's replacement in the coming period. (QNA)
