Qatar 2022: World Second Match, Netherlands Faces Senegal

Doha, November 20 (QNA) - The second FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 match between Senegal and Netherlands will be played on Monday, Nov. 21 at Al Thumama Stadium. Netherlands, the runner-up for the three previous times, who missed the Russia 2018 edition, seeks to reap the three match points, gain confidence and restore its luster again, under the leadership of coach Louis van Gaal, who previously led the team to third place in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Senegal are still reeling from the news that star player and Ballon d'Or runner-up Sadio Mane will not be participating in the tournament, after he failed to recover from an injury sustained at club level with Bayern Munich. For the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, Senegal, and coach Aliou Cisse, called up the following players: Goalkeepers: Edouard Mendy, Alfred Gomis, Seny Dieng, Defenders: Kalidou Koulibalu, Abdou Diallo, Youssouf Sabaly, Fode Ballo Toure, Pape Abou Cisse, Ismail Jakobs, Formose Mendy, Midfieldiers: Gana Guegye, Cheikhou Kouyate, Nampalys Mendy, Krepin Diatta, Pape Gueye, Pape Matar Sarr, Pathe Ciss, Moustapha Name, Loum Ndiaye, Forwards: Ismaila Sarr, Boulaye Dia, Bamba Dieng, Famara Diedhiou, Nicolas Jackson, Iliman Ndiaye. Netherlands coach for his part called up: Goalkeepers: Justin Biljow, Andries Noppert, Remko Pasveer, Defenders: Virgil van Dijk, Nathan Aké, Daley Blind, Jurriën Timber, Denzel Dumfries, Stefan de Vrij, Matthijs de Ligt, Tyrell Malacia, Jeremie Frimpong, Midfieldiers: Frenkie de Jong, Steven Berghuis, Davy Klaassen, Teun Koopmeiners, Marten de Roon, Kenneth Taylor, Xavi Simons, Forwards: Cody Gakpo, Memphis Depay, Steven Bergwijn, Vincent Janssen, Luuk de Jong, Noa Lang, Wout Weghorst. With Mane's absence from the tournament confirmed in recent days, coach Aliou Cisse will be relying heavily on Watford's Ismaila Sarr and Monaco's Krepin Diatta to provide the attacking impetus; their defense is still solid with Chelsea keeper Eduoard Mendy and centre-back Kalidou Koulibally providing a robust platform. The Netherlands have more or less a full complement of players to pick from, with Virgil van Dijk in line to play at his first ever major international tournament. Memphis Depay is also most likely to lead the line for the Dutch. (QNA)
