Qatar2022/ South Korea's Captain Expresses Regret for Team's Exit from World Cup

Doha, December 06 (QNA) - The captain of the South Korean national football team Son Heung-min expressed his regret at his country's exit from the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, after losing 4-1 to Brazil, yesterday, in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 round of 16. Son said in a press statement that he can only apologize to their fans that the squad did not live up to expectations, although it gave its best, yet Son thinks that his team played a difficult match. The Tottenham star added that both players and the coaching staff did everything they could to prepare for that match. Son expressed his regret at the departure of Portuguese coach Paulo Bento, who announced his resignation immediately after the loss to Brazil saying in this context that he had no doubts about the football style he followed. Bento explained that a lot of people had reservations about that choice, yet they all encouraged the team when it played well in the World Cup, being able to implement the things the team worked on over the past four years. The South Korean national football team gave the best result for an Asian team in the World Cup, reaching the semi-finals at home in 2002. The South Korean Squad qualified for the round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 by finishing second in Group H with 4 points from three matches, where it tied with Uruguay without any goals, lost to Ghana with three goals to two, before beating Portugal with two goals to one.
