RI Women's Basketball Has Chance To Win 1St Gold

Palembang, S Sumatra, Sept 20 (Antara) - Indonesia women`s basketball team has the chance to win the first gold medal of the third Islamic Solidarity Games (ISG) when they play against Egypt in the final round on Friday. "As previously predicted, Egypt will be the strongest contender for Indonesia as Qatar did not field its best players," said Tri Adiloka, assistant coach of the Indonesia women`s basketball team on Thursday. Indonesia currently leads the medal tally with six points from its two matches with Qatar and one match with Egypt. Egypt trailed behind in the second place after beating Qatar twice and losing to Indonesia. "We have yet to be safe although we scored 78-68 in the first match against Egypt. This means that even if we lose the difference must not exceed nine points," he said. Meanwhile, coach of the Egypt women`s team, Amr Ashour said his team make an all-out effort in the decisive match by playing aggressively since the first round. "The first match is quite enough to give a picture of Indonesia`s strength and weakness. We hope the umpire who will lead the next match will be fair even though we will face the host team," he said.
