Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah attends AEF meeting

Manama, Mar. 21 (BNA):Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Vice-President of the International Equestrian Federation (Fédération Equestre Internationale, FEI) and President of the Seventh Arabian Group was elected as honorary president of the African Equestrian Federation (AEF). This was announced at the General Assembly of the AEF held at Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt on the sidelines of El Salam International Showjumping Championships staged at Concorde El Salam Courts last week. The constituent General Assembly picked up Hisham Hatab, president of the Egyptian Olympic Committee and the Egyptian Equestrian Federation, as the maiden president of the AEF. Shaikh Khalid congratulated Hatab on this new post and wished him success in bringing up the standard of equestrian sports in Africa to highest standards, and noted that his next major task is to prepare a young team of equestrians for the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics in Argentina. Shaikh Khalid said that the recently-appointed president is one of the pioneer Arab sports efficiencies and was one of the few national equestrian federations in the continent who contributed to the establishment of the African Equestrian Federation.
