Shaikh Khalid voices pride in people with disabilities

Manama, Sep. 8 (BNA): His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association, expressed his joy on meeting his brothers with disabilities in the closing ceremony of the fourth Khalid bin Hamad Youth Centers Futsal League and first People with Disabilities League under the slogan #meeting_of_generations.
His Highness said: "I was filled with joy with I met my friends and brothers with disabilities. The closing ceremony was a special opportunity for me and them, they deserve all the respect, appreciation, support and care for their big hearts and wonderful feelings. I am proud to be a brother and friend for them and I am proud with their large heartedness."
His Highness further added: "The People with Disabilities League was a success due to the outstanding participations by my brothers with disabilities in the first edition of the league. We achieved the goals set to taking their talents and giving them the opportunity to showcase them in this event. We also achieved the main goal of showcasing talents to the Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation and to be utilized in National Teams to bring more achievements for Bahrain in sports."
His Highness said that the league achieved the directives set by the wise leadership, which include giving support to people with disabilities, providing the right environment for them and launching their creativity in various fields, so that they are integrated within society and become part of the development process.
His Highness further added: "People with disabilities overcome obstacles with their strength and determination. There are many examples of that, most notably is Ruba Al Omri and Fatima Abdulrazaq who will participate in the Rio 2016 Special Olympics.
His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa offered his thanks to his brothers with disabilities for their participation and making the event into a success, wishing them luck and success in their social and sports life.
