Special welcome for Bahraini athletes

Manama, Mar. 22 (BNA): Bahrain’s athletics team for people with disabilities were given a warm welcome on return from UAE where they competed at the 10th Fazza International Para Athletics Championships. The champions put on an impressive show and took seven medals in total, including two gold, one silver and four bronze. The team also made remarkable results at Sharjah International Championship held recently, where they clinched eight medals (4 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze). Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar led high-ranking sports officials at the reception ceremony on the team return. Askar conveyed the congratulations of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman and BOC President to members of the team, and his best wishes for them in future challenges. He noted the outstanding performance of the team and the results achieved in both championships, which underlines the developed level of Bahrain athletes in recent years. Askar added that the results also culminates the efforts of the Bahrain Sports Federation for People with Disabilities, headed by Shaikh Mohammed bin Duaij Al Khalifa, and its successful programmes that aim to achieve a tremendous progress for its athletes internationally.
