UAE to host 17th edition of Asian Football Cup 2019

ABU DHABI, 10th March, 2015 (WAM) -- The UAE has won its bid to host the 17th edition of the Asian Football Cup 2019. H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation and Chairman of National Olympic Committee, said the UAE winning the bid to host the 2019 AFC Asian Cup is a strong testimony to the high efficiency and complete readiness the sports facilities enjoy as a result of the significant support extended by H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor, and Honorary President of the UAE Football Association. ''The successive remarkable victories the UAE sports sector has scored have paved the way for winning the bid to host the 17th edition of the AFC Asian Cup, an international football tournament organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC),'' Sheikh Ahmed emphasised. Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Health and Deputy Chairman of the Committee, has congratulated Sheikh Hazza and the Association on the spectacular sporting achievement. The UAE, he said, submitted an inclusive file to the AFC which reflected the ultra-modern sports infrastructure and other advanced facilities, including a modern ICT and road network that were arguments powerful enough to guarantee the UAE a smooth win.
