UAE's Victory 3 second in Edox pole position for 2013 UIM Class 1 World Powerboat Championship

Pendik-Istanbul (Turkey), June 16, 2013 (WAM) - : Faleh Al-Mansoori will team up with Rashed Al-Tayer for the first time in Team Abu Dhabi for this weekend's Turkish Grand Prix, round two of the 2013 UIM Class 1 World Powerboat Championship, at Pendik-Istanbul on the Marmara Sea.
The Emirati rookie performed well with Italian stand-in driver Tomaso Polli at the opening round in Sanya and has earned himself the driving seat in Team Abu Dhabi, as the Abu Dhabi International Marine Sports (ADIMSC)-based team aims to close in on Victory 3's Arif Saif Al-Zafeen and Mohammed Al-Marri in the points' standings at the two Turkish races to be held on Saturday and Sunday.
Al-Tayer, 34, will be competing in his 14th Grand Prix meeting and takes the throttles of the Michael Peters-designed Team Abu Dhabi for the first time after 24 races as the driver. He has three race wins to date on his career curriculum vitae, having won both races at Uddevalle in Sweden in 2010 and one race at the team's home grand prix in Abu Dhabi the same year.
The weekend's timetable kicks off with registration and briefings at Marinturk Marina in the Asian side of the city on Thursday, June 13th before crews are permitted on to the 4.42Nm racecourse for 90 minutes' practice from 10.30hrs on Friday morning. The Class 1 entrants will share the timetable with Class 3 racers and the Class 1 Edox Pole Position is scheduled for 14.00hrs on Friday afternoon.
Further practice is permitted on Saturday morning and the first of the two Turkish Grand Prix races gets underway from 15.30hrs. A third practice session on Sunday morning precedes the second Turkish Class 1 race that starts at a similar time of 15.30hrs. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
