World Number One Chong Wei Prepares For India Open Action

PETALING JAYA (Selangor, Malaysia), April 9 (Bernama) -- World number one Lee Chong Wei has started preparing for the Indian Open despite not having fully recovered from a shoulder injury. Chong Wei said he would concentrate on preparing for the India Open from April 24 to 29 as it would be his first appearance after sustaining a shoulder injury at the All England final last month. "I will continue with the training but I dare not risk swinging my arm vigorously because I am afraid and having a bit of a phobia. "The India Open is approaching in three weeks time but though I have recoved..I am not 100 per cent ready for fear of a repeat injury," said Chong Wei who was appointed Cafe99 ambassador during the coffee company's latest product launch at Sunway Pyramid near here Sunday. Chong Wei who was clearly disappointed as he could not assist the Malaysia Tiger squad in the Axiata Cup Badminton Championship, promised to help the national squad during the Thomas Cup final in Wuhan, China from May 20 to 29. "I really missed the Axiata Cup but will now give more attention to the Thomas Cup," Chong Wei said. He said the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) would be preparing the Thomas Cup team two or three weeks before leaving for Wuhan. -- BERNAMA
