ARF Workshop To Discuss Cooperation During Cyber Incidents On March 2-3

KUALA LUMPUR, March 2 (Bernama) -- The ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Workshop on Operationalising Confidence Building Measures For Cooperation During Cyber-Incident Response will be held here for two days from Wednesday. The Foreign Ministry, in a statement here Tuesday, said the workshop, which would be co-hosted by Malaysia and the European Union, would focus on discussion of practical confidence-building measures related to information communication technologies and the cyber domain by tapping into the diverse expertise of ARF participating countries. "These measures are aimed at promoting transparency, cooperation and international norms of behaviour to reduce the risk of conflict in the event of disruptive national or international cyber incidents," the statement said. Among the topics of discussion at the workshop are state level transnational cyber incident response mechanism (policy, legal, technical mechanisms); private sector cyber incident response involving critical infrastructure sectors (financial, transport, telecommunications, Internet core infrastructure); and case studies on coordinating and integrating cyber incident response mechanisms between technical community, private sector and government agencies. The statement said delegates of the workshop would include officials representing the policy-makers, law enforcement officials, academicians, private sectors, technical experts and other senior officers from the relevant agencies involved in the response to cyber incidents. It will be co-chaired by Ir. Md. Shah Nuri Md. Zain, Undersecretary of the Cyber and Space Security Division of National Security Council (MKN) and François Rivasseau, Head of Security Policy Division, Counter-terrorism and Space, the European Union. Acting Secretary of MKN Zahari Alias and Deputy Head of the Dutch National Cybersecurity Centre Aart Jochem will be delivering a keynote address during the workshop. --BERNAMA
