ASEAN Nations Need To Collaborate For Energy Security, Efficiency
KUALA LUMPUR, March 10 (Bernama) -- Energy security and efficiency can be achieved via a collaboration among all Asean countries, said Nobuo Tanaka, Global Associate for Energy Security and Sustainability, Institute of Energy Economics, Japan.
He said there were many potential new advancements in technology, citing Japan's keen interest to develop energy relating to hydrogen, which is a commendable element in restoring electricity due to the increase in electric vehicle utilisation.
"Energy security and efficiency can't be achieved by one sole country and technology transfer among Asean countries needs to be encouraged," he told reporters at the 6th National Energy Forum, here Tuesday.
He said energy transition takes a long time, which is more than 50 years, and collaboration was deemed fit.
Tanaka, who delivered the keynote speech at the forum, was the former Executive Director of the International Energy Agency.
The 6th National Energy Forum is jointly organised by the Energy Commission, Malaysian Gas Association and the Energy Council of Malaysia.
Themed "Sustainable Energy for Malaysia, Where Are We?", the forum addresses issues of resource depletion and ways to move forward under such circumstances.
