Call To Give Robotics Sector More Exposure

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 (Bernama) -- Skill areas, especially in the robotics sector, should be given appropriate exposure to enable the young generation to develop their interests, Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysia France Institute (UniKL MFI) Head of Robotic Excellence Centre Prof Dr Ishkandar Baharin said. He said despite being a new skill area, the robotics sector indeed had a bright future. "Through appropriate exposure, the young generation can develop interests to pursue their studies in the sector which offers various opportunities," he told Bernama after the press conference on the Asean Skills Competition here Thursday. Prof Ishkandar said the young generation would be more interested to venture into the sector if their parents and local community encouraged them to do so. "For example, there are various skill competitions being held at the international level and UniKL MFI has taken the initiative to send its students to compete in those competitions," he said. UniKL MFI student Muhammad Ziyad Fattah Kamaruzaman and Amirul Hafizan Zainal will be representing Malaysia to compete in the mobile robotics category at the Asean Skills Competition scheduled to be held from Oct 24 to 28 in Hanoi, Vietnam. -- BERNAMA
