Cathca To Launch Internet TV Platform Iflix In SE Asia

KUALA LUMPUR, March 9 (Bernama) -- Catcha Group will this year launch its new Video on Demand platform iflix in key Southeast Asian markets including Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam. The company says the revolutionary Internet TV platform will provide an entirely new and legitimate way for the region's Internet users to enjoy their favourite films and television shows. "The service will provide access to more than 10,000 hours of top-tier United States, Asian regional, and local market content. "Each subscription will allow a user to access the content on five devices, as well as download content to their mobile, tablet and computer," the group said in a statement. It said by adopting a mobile-oriented business model, iflix is directly targeting a booming market opportunity, with the number of Southeast Asian smartphone users and households with fixed line broadband likely to grow in excess of 240 million and 55 million respectively by 2018. Catcha Group is an international investment firm focused on disruptive digital business models in emerging markets. -- BERNAMA
