Gartner Expects IT Mart In Malaysia To Increase By Six Pct To US$19.3 Bln This Year
GEORGE TOWN (Penang, Malaysia), Oct 9 (Bernama) -- Gartner, the world's leading information technology (IT) research and advisory company, expects the IT market in Malaysia to rise by six per cent to US$19.31 billion (RM61.9 billion) this year compared with 2012.
Penang Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng, said Gartner's forecast included telecommunication services (fixed, mobile and data), devices (mobile phones, personal computers and printers), IT services, software and data centre systems (including servers, storage and network equipment).
"To cope with these emerging technologies and IT innovations, the Penang state government has established the Penang Science Council to reinforce the talent pipeline from schools to industries and businesses," he said.
Lim said this in his keynote address at the Gartner Asia-Pacific's 'Local Briefing -- Your Business Future Depends on Today's Technology Decisions' here Wednesday.
Earlier, at the briefing, Gartner analysts identified critical technologies that will shape the future of devices, hardware, platforms, software and services.
The participants also learnt which business dependencies will shape the future of IT and how the critical technology decisions you make today will shape your business tomorrow.
