Iran among world four GRP pipe producers

TEHRAN, Mar. 08 (MNA) – By producing the new generation of anti-fire GRP pipes, Iran emerges as the fourth country possessing this prominent technology of oil, gas and petrochemical industries. Mohammadreza Zahir Emami, Director of Farassan Holding, announced that this generation of pipes is made from composite and can resist up to 1300°C. “This pipe has been designed and manufactured totally by Iranian researchers,” he added. “Currently, Iran is among the four countries that possess the knowledge and technology of producing GRP pipes in diameters of 100-4000 mm and the pressure resistance of 1 to 32 bars,” the official noted. Zahir Emami, meanwhile asserted that Iran is exporting the technology and has already designed and established two factories in Turkey and South Korea. However, “our priority is to fulfill domestic needs firstly and we have the capacity of producing 1,800 km of pipes annually,” said he. GRP pipes, made from glass fiber reinforced plastic, are widely consumed in oil, gas and petrochemical industries.
