Iran unveils eco-friendly hybrid car

TEHRAN, Mar. 07 (MNA) – Named Donirou, Iran’s indigenous eco-friendly hybrid car was unveiled Wednesday, March 4, in the presence of Iran’s President Rouhani. Head of the Macro-Scale National Plans of the Scientific and Technological Department Dr. Peyman Salehi announced unveiling of an environment-friendly car named Donirou on Wednesday in the presence of the Iranian president, the vice-president for science and technology and a number of cabinet members. Being one of the macro-scale national plans of the scientific and technological department of presidential office, Salehi said, Donirou was built by Iran Khodro’s Engine Research, Designing and Manufacturing Company with the scientific and technological department of presidential office and Industrial Development and Renovation Organization of Iran as the employer. Elaborating more on the project, Salehi said, Donirou is a hybrid car working with electricity and in case of the full charging of battery, it can travel for 85km. “The gasoline engine has been designed in a way that it is only used for charging the battery and not applicable for the car’s move,” he added. Pointing to the goals of building the car, Salehi said, Donirou is a standard and eco-friendly car designed for protecting the environment and also decreasing the environmental pollutions. Explaining about the credit for the plan, Salehi said more than $3 million have been spent for the project, with the partnership of the Scientific and Technological Department of Presidential Office and Industrial Development and Renovation Organization of Iran.
