Malaysia, Switzerland Collaborate In Microgravity Research
SERDANG (Selangor, Malaysia), Aug 27 (Bernama) -- Malaysia and Switzerland Wednesday inked collaboration in microgravity research and innovation through a tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) exchanged between University of Zurich, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and microgravity and suborbital flight provider, Aerocosmos Sdn Bhd.
The research among others will get findings on the effect of microgravity on tissue growth, the aging process and cancer.
UPM Vice-Chancellor Dr Mohd Fauzi Ramlan in his speech during the MoU exchange ceremony, said the cooperation would create awareness on the benefits of microgravity, strenghtening UPM's internationalisation process and promote sharing of knowledge and experience.
"Through this research we want people to understand what will happen to tissue growth, cancer cells and and aging when gravity is zero," he added.
Meanwhile, University of Zurich's chair of anatomy director, Prof Oliver Ullrich said tumour, pigment and cancer research had huge amount of benefits in a microgravity market.
Aerocosmos Sdn Bhd will provide the scientific evidence for the research.
