Malaysian Students Shine At Jakarta Young Inventors' Exhibition

TAPAH (Perak, Malaysia), Nov 4 (Bernama) -- Three Malaysian students did the country proud by winning gold at the 10th International Exhibition for Young Inventors (IEXI 2014) in Jakarta, Indonesia. The Form Three students of secondary school of Sekolah Menengah Sains Tapah, Ahmad Hasif Sohif, Mohamad Haziq Alias and Muhammad Anif Aiman Zulladi, all aged 15, won the prize for their invention, 'MyNanoCFib'. The competition, from Oct 30 until Nov 1, and participated by nine countries including Taiwan, Nigeria, Hong Kong and Japan, saw 142 inventions being displayed. Their teacher and adviser, Nadira Ismail said the product could be used as a construction material for ships, boats and other sea vessels, and for hockey sticks. According to her, the product, made of natural fibre, is environment-friendly and of high quality. "It is anti fungal, light, fire and water resistant and more durable compared to glass fibre. "The price of glass fibre is US$198 (RM660) but we only spent US$45.99 (RM153) to produce the MyNanoCFib," she told reporters when met here Monday. Nadira, 34, said the school would apply to patent the invention as soon as possible. (photoBERNAMA) --BERNAMA
