Navy Commander: Iran Successfully Test Fires “Mehrab” Missile

Chaharbahar, Jan 2, IRNA - Iran's Navy commander, Admiral Habibollah Sayari said on Sunday that home-made, surface to air, and short-range missile dubbed “Mehrab” was successfully test fired by the Iranian troops during Velayat 90 war games in the eastern part of Hormuz Strait. Speaking to IRNA, he said the missile was successfully fired and carried out its predefined mission. The message of Velayat 90 war games is peace and friendship for all countries in the region, he said, adding that the Iranian forces do their best to maintain security of the entire region. The maneuver sends a clear message to aliens that they have no room in the region, he said. Iranian forces have already test fired other types of surface to surface missiles during the military exercise, said the commander. The combat readiness and the technical capabilities of Iranian forces is a source of pride for the Iranian nation, he underlined. Velayat 90 maneuver was launched on Saturday in the Persian Gulf waters and Sea of Oman./end
