Siberian university starts building Russia's first robot football team

TOMSK, November 17. /TASS/. Scientists at the Tomsk university of control systems and electronics have started building Russia's first team of robotic football players, the chief of the university's robotics labotarory said on Monday. Yevgeny Shandarov told TASS that the team would be made up of a goalkeeper and two strikers. "Our players can find a ball in the field, follow the fall and strike," he said adding that the university has already developed some basic software for the players. Shandarov said that the robots had to practice coordinated actions during the game and various types of strikes. He said that the robotic team could take part in the KidSize League of the RoboCup (Robot Soccer World Cup) international competition. Read more
