Sophos Offers New Security To Android Platform

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 (Bernama) -- Sophos Thursday announced the new Sophos Anti-Malware SDK for additional security and device management capabilities for Android mobile phones. Sophos in a statement Thursday said the new security software can allow information technology (IT) professionals to take advantage of all that the platform has to offer without putting sensitive data at risk. Telecommunications providers, mobile carriers and other IT vendors can also integrate Android anti-malware technology into their own mobile offerings. According to survey company Nielsen, as mobile users now spend 30 more hours per month on mobile devices than on their laptops, they are more exposed to cybercrime. "As the amount of time spent on mobile devices increases, so does the attack vector. "Users in Southeast Asia are no strangers to this trend, with both enterprises and consumers riding on the 'Bring Your Own Device' trend and the explosion of Android devices in the region," said Director for Association of Southeast Asian Nations, Sumit Bansal. Approximately two billion mobile phones and tablets will be shipped worldwide by year-end with 85 per cent of those will be Android devices and 75 per cent of apps on those devices will fail basic security tests. -- BERNAMA
