Strata achieves 100% on-time delivery on nearly all programs using sea freight

Abu Dhabi (WAM): Strata Manufacturing PJSC (Strata), the advanced composite aerostructures manufacturing facility wholly-owned by Mubadala Development Company, continued to demonstrate exceptional achievements in both production and up skilling local talent, as: The Production team at Strata has completed the First Article Inspection (FAI) of the last component for the Airbus 330/340 Spoiler in the second quarter of 2014, thus completing the full on boarding of the A330/340 Spoiler program. The Production team also held its latest lean manufacturing "Kaizen" Event with its consultant, Shingijutsu, on the Aileron Assembly program. Substantial improvements were made, with an extensive list of work to be completed in the coming few months by the Aileron Assembly team, such as the reduction in cycle time in the main assembly jigs by 4 shifts. The Operations team is overseeing the extension to Strata’s existing facility, which is well underway and even running slightly ahead of schedule. This extension will add in excess of 9,000 square meters of usable production space to Strata’s current facility, creating a total floor space in excess of 30,000 square meters and is expected be ready by the 2nd quarter of 2015. Production teams have collectively achieved 100% on-time delivery on nearly all programs using sea freight. The Learning and Development team continues to reinforce the importance of Emiratisation, training, and development. These efforts have expanded beyond Strata, and the team has extended training initiatives to support two other U.A.E. companies in the field of maintenance and repair aircraft structures and composite parts. The Abu Dhabi Autonomous Systems Investment Company (ADASI) went through a two-week practical training session at Strata on the maintenance and repair of the nose fuselage and tail booms of the UAV Schiebel camcopter S-100. The training included modules on repairing cracks in the aircraft tail using carbon and resin, and preparing repair modules for use in future repairs. In addition, five employees from the Advanced Military Maintenance Repair and Overhaul Centre (AMMROC), along with a Strata employee, were given a basic composite repair course for aerospace applications. The course covered fundamental topics such as the identification of damaged areas, assessment of the extent of damage in line with approved repair procedures, in addition to topics related to surface preparation, step sanding, step and tapered repair, vacuum bagging, paint preparation and inspection of the repaired area. – Emirates News Agency, WAM – http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates-international/1395270701203.html
