UniMAP, AIT Organise IMiEJS 2013 In Ireland

KANGAR (Perlis, Malaysia), June 13 (Bernama) -- Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) and Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT) are organising the ongoing 3rd International Malaysia–Ireland Joint Symposium on Engineering, Science and Business (IMiEJS) 2013. Themed 'Harnessing Research Capabilities for Innovation', the three-day symposium, which began on Tuesday, is being held at the AIT, Ireland. According to the statement issued by UniMAP Wednesday, AIT and UniMAP took turn in providing the venue for the symposium since its first edition in 2011. Last year, the symposium was held in UniMAP, in Peninsular Malaysia's northern state of Perlis. UniMAP vice-chancellor Prof Dr Kamarudin Hussin said the symposium also symbolised the close cooperation that existed between the two academic institutions, as well as between the two countries. "The Malaysia-Ireland cooperation also involved an exchange of students and staff, especially after the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN) and the Institute of Technology Ireland (IOTI) last year," he said. The symposium is also attended by Malaysian Ambassador to Ireland Ramli Naam and AIT President Prof Ciaran O’Cathain. -- BERNAMA
