A Facebook page called “Madam Lee, Daughter-In-Law in South Korea” shared the incident, revealing that a Thai woman had been killed in Gyeongsangbuk-do a few days ago as raging floods and landslides hit South Korea.
The woman, Nakhon Ratchasima native has been identified as Ms. Pachamon, 33. She had been working in South Korea for over four years with her husband.
She was swept away by raging floodwaters on July 15. Rescue teams have successfully recovered her body, and her husband has also confirmed her identity.
Her younger sister in Thailand said initially, it is expected that the cremation will take place in South Korea, and the remains of the deceased will be brought back to Thailand. This process will take some time, as there are a significant number of missing persons.
The victim and her husband had not traveled to work according to the regular system but had entered South Korea using tourist visas to find employment.
Therefore, once the death has been reported, the police will have to forward the case to the Thai embassy to determine the next steps.
Her family has asked relevant agencies for assistance to expedite the process, so they can arrange funeral rites for the deceased in her hometown. (TNA)
