TRA signs MoU with US FCC

Manama, June 18 (BNA): The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) participated in the ITU Global Symposium for Regulators (GSSR-23) led by Philip Marnick, General Director of the TRA, where he showcased Bahrain’s leading position in telecommunications.

On the sidelines of the 2023 ITU GSR-23, TRA held meetings with several international telecommunications regulators and ITU officials.

The TRA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to formalize bilateral relations between the two organizations. The agreement was signed by Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel, of the FCC’s and Philip Marnick, TRA’s General Director.

The MoU will increase coordination between the TRA and FCC, enabling discussions and the exchange of best practices on issues such as fifth-generation technologies (5G), spectrum licensing, broadband deployment, accessible and inclusive communications, robocalls, and secure networks.

"In our ever increasingly interconnected world is important for regulators to collaborate, to share ideas and best practices, and work together to enhance protection for consumers. The collaboration will also support our efforts to further enhance services in Bahrain," Philip Marnick, General Director of TRA said.
