Bangsawan Theatre is Historical Melaka's Latest Tourist Attraction

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 11 (Bernama) – The Melaka Bangsawan Theatre is set to become the historical state’s latest tourist attraction with various cultural and artistic events planned ahead of 2018. Melaka Chief Minister Incorporated (CMI) general manager Ab Rahman Ismail said the company had plans to turn the theatre into a prestigious musical arts and intellectual centre, on par with international theatres like the Royal Albert Hall in London, Australia's Sydney Opera House, and the Broadway Theatre of New York. "We have unique and fascinating forms of musical art such as the ‘dondang sayang’, Portuguese dance and Baba Nyonya cultural performance, all of which have great potential. "This can also introduce the cultural diversity in the state to foreign tourists who are fond of such things," he told Bernama after the Tun Fatimah Theatre preview event at Istana Budaya here, Tuesday. Ab Rahman said the two-day theatre performance to be held at the Melaka Bangsawan Theatre from Oct 21, was the company’s fourth collaboration with Istana Budaya. -- BERNAMA
