Kuala Lumpur Aims To Be Like 'Davos', Hold Largest Conference, Bring In Most Iconic Speakers
KUALA LUMPUR, March 24 (Bernama) -- Kuala Lumpur aims to be like 'Davos' in Switzerland, and hold the largest conference with the most iconic speakers to share their thoughts and business stories to companies worldwide.
Performance Management & Delivery Unit (Pemandu) President and Chief Executive Officer, Idris Jala, said the next forum in 2019 would see the unit bring more women to share their successful stories and inspire the participants.
Idris said this in his closing remarks at the two-day Global Transformation Forum 2017 here Thursday.
He said among the women would be Harry Potter fantasy series' author JK Rowling.
"We believe that the world would be a far better place if it engages in the process of transformation," he said.
Idris also said that this year's forum has received positive comments for bringing more keynote speakers compared to the previously one.
Among the speakers were Jack Ma, Chairman of Alibaba Group; Sir Richard Branson, the founder of Virgin Group; multiple Olympics gold medallist Usain Bolt and former Formula 1 racer David Coulthard.
GTF is an international platform which gathers and introduces world leaders, policymakers, heads of industries and international experts from their individual fields, and concerned parties in a collective dialogue.
The forum, with an allocation of US$3.38 million (RM15 million) from the government, was attended by some 3,000 participants and showcasing exhibitions involving countries such as Tanzania, South Africa, Oman, India and selected corporate bodies.
