Malaysia: 'Island Hopping' Package To Add Value To Tourism Activities In Kuala Muda

SUNGAI PETANI (Kedah, Malaysia), Jan 23 (Bernama) -- An 'Island Hopping' package starting from the Semeling Jetty here to three islands in Yan, scheduled to commence in February, is expected to add value to tourism activities in the Kuala Muda, a district in Kedah. Kedah is a state in the northern part of Malaysia. Tanjong Dawai assemblyman Tajul Urus Mat Zain said the introduction of the latest package is yet another initiative undertaken by the Sungai Petani Municipal Council (MPSPK) in diversifying tourism packages. "Among the packages offered earlier are the Sungai Batu Archaeological Trail (of old Kedah civilisation), the Tomb of Sultan Muzaffar Shah, Archaeological Museum, Merbok, Tanjung Dawai, a visit to Yan district, to the peak of Gunung Jerai, Gallery Tsunami, Pasar Bisik (fish market where bidding is carried out through whispering) and other. "Whereas through the 'Island Hopping' package, visitors can tour nearby islands such as Pulau Bidan, Pulau Telor and Pulau Songsong in catamaran boats, which adds value to tourism activities here," he said after the launching of the 'Island Hopping' package' at Semeling Jetty, yesterday. -- BERNAMA
