Malaysia's Pahang State Optimistic About Attracting One Million Chinese Tourists This Year
KUANTAN (Pahang, Malaysia), Jan 18 (Bernama) -- The Pahang State Government is optimistic about attracting one million tourists from China to the state as a choice holiday destination this year.
State Tourism and Culture Committee chairman Mohd Sharkar Shamsudin said the government was confident of achieving this target as this year was the Visit Pahang Year.
Promotion campaigns for this have been held from April to December last year.
He said the state had its unique attractions in terms of interesting destinations and natural heritage which would draw more tourists from China.
"Among the locations which are popular with Chinese tourists in Pahang are Genting Highlands and the beaches," he said in a press conference held for the launch of the Visit Pahang Year 2017 here Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Mohd Sharkar said the committee was planning a road tour throughout the country as part of the campaign to promote the Visit Pahang Year 2017 which is expected to begin in February or March.
"We will stop in major towns in Penang, Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Melaka, Terengganu and Kelantan, to hold exhibitions, we will also meet with tourism industry players to market any (tourism) packages that we have because we do not want the campaign to stop," he said.
On the launching ceremony of the Visit Pahang Year 2017, he said it would be officiated by the Regent of Pahang, Tengku Mahkota Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah at the Kuantan Urban Transformation Centre on Friday, at 8pm.
