Pangkor Island Festival 2017 to Celebrate Island's Diversity

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10. (Bernama) – The Oriental Art and Cultural Centre (OACC) will organise the Pangkor Island Festival 2017, which celebrates diversity in art, culture, music and food within the island’s community. The festival will be held from Nov 25 to Dec 2. Elken Global group executive chairman-cum-Elken Foundation chairman, AK Tan said as the festival’s main sponsor, the foundation aimed to improve the well-being of the community through corporate social responsibility programmes. “The festival helps visitors and the local community to create greater awareness on preserving our rich Asian culture while providing opportunities to the locals to present their talents to visitors, thus enriching the lives of the islanders by building a foundation through arts and culture,” said Tan after pre-launching the event here Tuesday. To be held in collaboration with the International Council of Organisations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts, the festival will also showcase international dance performances from Indonesia, the Philippines, and Nigeria. -- BERNAMA
