Russian companies exhibit wide range of tourist services in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, April 10. /TASS/. Russia’s delegation visiting Kuwait to mark the first anniversary of the local Visit Russia office exhibited a wide range of tourist services. The event, which took place in Kuwait’s capital, involved Russian Ambassador Alexei Solomatin, Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan Sergei Ivanov, a delegation of the Russian Geographical Society and Kuwait’s Assistant Undersecretary of Tourism at the Ministry of Information Magda Behbehani. Companies from Moscow, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, Sochi, the Republic of Crimea and the Republic of Tatarstan, specializing in environmental, health, extreme and other kinds of tourism, displayed their services on the occasion. Apart from traditional beach vacations in southern Russia, namely in Crimea, their tourist products include a flight in the MiG-29-UB fighter jet in the city of Nizhny Novgorod as well as triathlon tournaments in Kazan and Sochi. The so-called "green tourism", ethnographic expeditions, rafting down mountain rivers, getting to know local culture and customs in the Russian regions were among tourist projects put forward in Kuwait. The companies participating in the event emphasized their readiness to create conditions for Muslim travellers, including the development of halal standards and the establishment of prayer rooms in hotels. While speaking to TASS, representatives of the Kuwaiti companies said that the first visit of a tourist industry delegation from Russia had provided them with an opportunity to have a closer look at the Russian tourist products and discuss specific projects. Many members of the Russian delegations noted that Kuwait was the first Arab country of the Gulf states where they displayed their services. Members of the Russian Geographical Society expressed their interest in promoting environmental and extreme tourism in Kuwait and other Middle Easter countries, as well as in setting up a local center. Visit Russia project The Visit Russia project, that is being implemented by the Federal Agency for Tourism (Rostourism) together with private investors, is aimed at promoting the inbound and domestic tourism in Russia. Deputy Head of Rostourism Sergei Korneyev launched his project on July 3, 2015. Soon after that, panels advertising the Crimean resorts began to be installed all over Russia, while billboards installed in Crimea advertised the country’s north-western regions (the so-called ‘Silver Ring’). The Visit Russia offices have already been opened in ten countries - China, Germany, Iran, Kuwait, Vietnam, Austria, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain and France.
