Thailand Plans To Reduce Quarantine Period For Vaccinated Travellers
BANGKOK, March 9 (Bernama) -- Thailand plans to reduce its mandatory quarantine from 14 days to seven days for vaccinated travellers entering the kingdom, starting next month.
Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister, Anutin Charnvirankul said for travellers who completed the COVID-19 vaccination within three months of the travel period were required to show negative COVID-19 test results within three days of departure to undergo seven days of quarantine.
“For travellers who have not been vaccinated but provide a COVID-19-free certificate will need to undergo quarantine for 10 days,” he said.
However, he said travellers from Africa would still need to undergo 14 days of quarantine due to the highly transmissible South African variant of the virus.
The plan is pending approval from the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) which will meet next Monday and chaired by Prime Minister Prayuth Chan o-cha.
Thailand which began its COVID-19 vaccination drive on Feb 28 has vaccinated 27,497 people, mostly frontliners.
To date, Thailand has recorded 26,441 COVID-19 cases and 85 fatalities.
