VII International Festival of Epics of the Peoples of World kicks off in Osh

Bishkek, May 17, 2023. /Kabar/. On May 17, a solemn start was given to the VII International Festival "Epics of the Peoples of the World" on the central square of southern capital of Kyrgyzstan in Osh city, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the birth of Chingiz Aitmatov and the 125th anniversary of Mukhtar Auezov.

The press service of the Osh Mayor's Office said that the opening ceremony was attended by State Secretary of the Kyrgyz Republic Suyunbek Kasmambetov, Vice Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Zhamilya Isaeva, First Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy Kairat Imanaliev, Secretary General of the TURKSOY Sultan Raev, Deputy Mayor of Osh city Nurbek Kadyrov, Governor of Osh Oblastr Elchibek Dzhantaev, creative teams and representatives of scientific circles from the Turkic-speaking republics of near and far abroad, as well as from all regions of the republic.

Within the framework of the festival, the opening of the ethno-village "Kyrgyz Kochu", as well as an exhibition-fair of artisans, traditional events and rituals "Tunduk kotoru", "Tushoo kesuu" were held.

As part of the event, Kasmambetov delivered a message from the president of the Kyrgyz Republic, in which he noted the importance of epics for the development of a common culture of all nationalities.

The event ended with a festive cultural ethno-program with the participation of creative teams and artists of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, the Republics of Tyva, Sakha-Yakutia, Khakassia, Altai of Russia.

The festival will run until May 20. During this period, it is planned to hold a scientific and practical symposium of scientists, performance of folklore groups from the Republics of Khakassia and Tyva, organization of national games, competition of ethno-costumes “Sarkech kochmon,” the report said.

As part of the solemn closing ceremony of the VII International Festival of Epics of the Peoples of the World on May 19, it is planned to organize a final gala concert on the central square of the city.
