Water forum kicks off in Bishkek

Bishkek, May 31, 2023. /Kabar/. A water forum is being held today in Bishkek for the first time.

The main objective of the forum is to stimulate joint actions to implement fundamental transformations in the water sector, modernize assets and improve the performance of the sector with a gradual transition to cost recovery, as well as the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

According to Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic Melis Turgunbaev, such a forum is being held in Bishkek for the first time. “It is organized by the Cabinet of Ministers, including our ministry with the support of the World Bank. Today we will discuss all water issues and problems that we have,” he said.

The minister added that the main goal of the water strategy discussed during the event is to provide the population with clean drinking water.
