The third contingent of South Korea's special forces cheer during a send-off ceremony in Gwangju, east of Seoul, on Dec. 29, 2011. The contingent will replace their predecessor stationed in the United Arab Emirates' eastern area of Al Ain to help train the UAE special forces. The first dispatch of the unit, dubbed "Akh" (brother in the Arabic language), was made in January 2011, about a month after a South Korean consortium won a US$20 billion deal in late 2009 to build nuclear reactors in the oil-rich country.
